D#1 HW#8 Initial Questions/Comments

So far, this is the widest course I have taken online (this being my third). In the last 24 hours, I've registered 4 new accounts on 4 different new websites.

I've never kept a blog before, so this is a new and fun exercise for me. Delicious will definitely yield interesting results. Google Doc's was giving me problems. Any of my classmates have problems with Internet Explorer 6 and Google Docs? I struggled with it for a good hour until I decided to access it on my iMac instead. Then I found out that Safari isn't supported (??!), so I downloaded and installed Firefox, and now its running smooth as warm butter.

Another thing you classmates could help me with: Does anyone else experience a keypress delay while typing out blog posts on blogger.com? The onscreen text follows my typing very S L O W L Y, so that after I finish typing a sentence I have to sit and watch it type itself out. Its an inconvenience at worst, but an annoying one.

It seems this will be a time-intensive class, even for a condensed online course. Anyone have any prior experience with ENG102 and what time investments will be demanded?

That is really weird how your blog types very slow; mine doesn't have any problems. I don't have experience with ENG 102, but the ENG 101 class was pretty time demanding. After reading the syllabus and due dates, I'm thinking this is going to be a fast-paced class. Good luck!

Ryan~ I browsed the help section and found one blogger group discussing the same problem. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they figured out what the cause of the problem is or how to fix it. You may want to check it out, here's a link:

Slow Typing

(by the way, it took me 30 minutes to figure out how to add a hyperlink to this blog!)

Hope this helps!

The typing lag is probably a slow connection/network. However, I wouldn't type directly into blogger anyhow (except maybe replies). You don't want to lose your work, right? Type everything in a document on your computer, then cut and paste. That means you also save all of your work on your computer as well! :-)

Hey! So, I read your questions/concerns and I did take 102 before, but it will not transfer to ASU from when I took it back home. But, I have always had a problem really committing to a topic and collecting enough research until I actually sit to write the paper, and it looks like maybe really committing to a topic will really help when putting everything together in this class. Also, every English class I've ever taken has been very time-consuming and this one especially seems to move really fast, so good luck and hopefully this will help a little!! Tegan
